The FLAG is located in the Masurian Lakes region in north-eastern Poland. This area has a very high number of lakes – over 300, with a total surface of over 27 000 hectares, including the largest Polish lake, Śniardwy.

The FLAG is located on the Baltic sea coast north of the city of Gdańsk. The area has valuable natural assets, many of them protected. The main economic activities are tourism, fishing and fish processing.

The FLAG is located in Western Pomerania close to the cities of Szczecin and Stargard as well as to the German border. Agriculture dominates the area, but there is also fish farming and lake fishing.

Although the Region of Western Macedonia accounts for 60% of all of Greece’s water reserves, previous efforts at developing fisheries in the area have failed to gain traction.

The FLAG area is situated along the border between the two municipalities of Halkidiki (Sithonias and Aristoteles). Its rural and mountainous geographic characteristics determine its economy and productive profile and have driven growth in the primary sector.

Historically linked with the tobacco trade commerce as well as fish processing and retail, Kavala city is a beautiful amphitheatrical city open to Aegean Sea. The most important features of the area is the fisheries sector including small-scale and large-scale fishing.

The FLAG area consists of four municipalities on the western coast of Jutland. They vary strongly in terms of population and economic activity. The region has both small and large scale fisheries activities.

The FLAG is mainly characterised by widespread former brown-coal mining areas. In many of the opencast pits, artificial lakes have developed, which form a major part of the landscape in the area south of Leipzig in the north-west of the FLAG territory. The long history of mining and its legacy of pollution and environmental hazards are challenges these areas must cope with.

The dello Stretto FLAG from Italy wishes to compare current states of fishing techniques, storage, distribution, gastronomic traditions and land management as well as integrated development strategies for the coastal areas of project partners. careful analysis of these factors, starting from fishing grounds to the production places, can create added value for involved territories and cultures.

Glückstadt is a town in the Steinburg district of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The FLAG area consists solely of the municipality of Glückstadt and is part of the LAG AktivRegion of Steinburg. Due to its location on the Elbe river on the way to Hamburg, its long tradition lies in fish processing, mainly herring, which is not caught in the FLAG area.
