iRASFF application
Introduction
General Concept
The iRASFF application provides the Alert and Cooperation Network’s control authorities with an effective tool to exchange information. It allows Member States to coordinate and respond more rapidly to health threats or non-compliances concerning agri-food products.
The Alert and Cooperation Network (ACN) facilitates the exchange of administrative information and the cooperation between Member States on official controls in the agri-food chain. The ACN is composed of:
the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF)
the Administrative Assistance and Cooperation Network (AAC)
the EU Agri-Food Fraud Network (FFN)
the Plant Health Network (PHN)
the Pet Animals Network (PA)
the Animal Welfare Network (AW)
Each network is responsible for different aspects of the agri-food chain, respectively: non-compliances with possible health risk (RASFF), non-compliances without health risk (AAC), suspicions of fraud (FFN), non-compliant consignments of plants, plant products and on contingency plans for plant pests and other plant health concerns (PHN), non-compliances and fraud suspicions related to companion animals (PA) and animal welfare (AW).
Its structure is simple: it consists of clearly identified contact points in the Commission, EFSA, EEA and at the national level in member countries. These Contact Points exchange information in a clear and structured way by means of templates.
