Aquaculture

The FLAG is located in the North-Eastern part of Silesia and most municipalities are part of the Polish Jurassic Highland. There are 35 fish farms, of which 12 are quite large (and have over 20 ha of fish ponds).

The FLAG is situated in the northern part of the Lublin region, and it is strongly diversified in terms of nature and landscape. Settlements in this area have historically been linked with lakes and fishing and most fish farms still use traditional methods such as the natural feeding of fish.

The FLAG covers 18 municipalities located in the south-western part of Swietokrzyskie region. The FLAG area is mostly rural, with jobs located mainly in the towns of Jędrzejów, Małogoszcz, Sędziszów and Włoszczowa.

The FLAG area is situated between the rivers Vistula and San and covers remnants of the ancient forests of Sandomierz and Janów Lubelski.

The FLAG is located in the south-western part of the Western Pomerania region, close to the German border. The area is highly rural and there are no towns of more than 20 000 inhabitants. The inhabitants of the area arrived here after the second world war, so there is a mixture of different cultures which over the last decades have merged to form a common identity

The FLAG area stretches from the eastern part of Marseille to Port Grimaud in Saint Tropez. The area covers both densely populated urban centres as well as a number of exceptional natural spaces, including two National Parks, which may explain the area’s strong tourist attraction (second tourist region of France).

Maritime activities (fishing, aquaculture, harbour and nautical activities) are at the heart of the economy of the FLAG area which also includes renewable marine energies, coastal agriculture (mainly vegetables), and strong tourism activities based on remarkable landscapes. The territory features a very active cultural life.

The Opale Coast FLAG area has 76 500 inhabitants and covers the ‘Communauté d'agglomération du Boulonnais,’ an intercommunal centred on the city of Boulogne-sur-Mer, the largest fishing port in France which lands over 35 000 tonnes annually.

The Bohuslän region is strongly linked to the oceans and fisheries which have for more than 500 years been a source of sustenance and livelihood for local inhabitants. At the same time, seasonal dwellers, tourists and other visitors enjoy the fantastic landscape where fishing and environmental concerns are paramount.

The FLAG area is situated in the southeast of Sweden and features numerous lakes, streams, coasts and seas, forming a unique development area. Challenges for the area include the low added value of local fisheries products.
