PUBLIC HEALTH Best Practice Portal

Welcome to the Best Practice Portal

This portal is a "one-stop shop" for consulting good and best practices collected in actions co-funded under the Health Programmes and for submitting practices for assessment. All practices in the areas of health promotion, disease prevention and the management of non-communicable diseases are welcome any time. Those practices that are selected as "best" against the criteria adopted by the Steering Group on Prevention and Promotion will also be published on this portal. Notably, they can also be presented to Member States representatives to raise their possible interest for transfer and broader implementation.

DG SANTE has made it a priority to Identify, disseminate and transfer best practices in order to make progress in health promotion and in non-communicable disease prevention in Europe. DG SANTE also hopes these efforts will help reach the Sustainable Development Goal 3.4 to reduce premature mortality from non-communicable diseases by one-third by 2030, through prevention and treatment, and to also help reach the nine UN/WHO global voluntary targets for health.

Specific calls for best practices may be published following a request from the Steering Group on Prevention and Promotion. This portal remains however open for stakeholders to submit successful practices in the areas of health promotion, disease prevention and management of non-communicable diseases. These submissions will be evaluated on yearly basis.
External evaluators will assess the submitted practices against the criteria adopted by the Steering Group on Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Management of Non-Communicable Diseases.
Before submitting, please consult the submitter’s guide.

If you are looking for reliable, science-based, independent information on topics related to the promotion of health and well-being, in particular the prevention of non-communicable diseases, please visit the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Knowledge Gateway
