    The 13th and final FARNET transnational seminar for FLAGs took place on 16-18 November and focused on building economic, social, and environmental resilience in FLAG areas. The seminar highlighted tools, both old and new, for FLAGs to adapt and prepare their local development strategies in line with future challenges and opportunities linked to the Blue Economy.

    Focused on the Atlantic and North Sea FLAGs, this 12th FARNET seminar completed the series of sea basin focused specific events for FLAGs. In addition to sea-basin specific topics of interest, transversal themes running through this seminar were the quality and effectiveness of the activities that FLAG undertake.
  • FARNET transnational ONLINE seminar for Baltic and inland FLAGs, 24-26 March 2021: "Better local strategies around the Baltic Sea and in inland FLAG areas”. Following the online seminar for Mediterranean and Black Sea FLAGs, the next seminar was organised for FLAGs in the Baltic Sea basin and in inland areas around Europe.
  • At the initiative of DG MARE, the FARNET Support Unit organised for the first time in an online format organising its 11th transnational seminar for FLAGs from the Mediterranean and Black Sea. It focussed on some of the common challenges faced in these sea basins such as the viability and sustainability of fisheries, aquaculture and tourism in Mediterranean and Black Sea

    FARNET's 8th transnational seminar took place from 2-4 April 2019 in Bantry, Ireland. The seminar was an opportunity for FLAG managers to explore ways in which their FLAG areas can become “smarter” by doing things differently and investing in imaginative ideas to tackle existing challenges. It was also be a chance to reflect on how to work towards smarter strategies for the future.

    FARNET's 7th transnational seminar took place on 20-22 November 2018 in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, France. It offered FLAGs an opportunity to better understand what circular economy is and to exchange on different types of initiatives they might support to encourage more sustainable local production and consumption habits: based on reducing waste, re-using products and recycling materials.

    The FARNET seminar for FLAGs took place on 13-15 March 2018 in Vigo, Spain. The theme of the event was “FLAGs and local resource management” and aimed to assist FLAGs in their efforts to contribute to the development of a bottom-up approach to local resource management and support the conservation of local resources.

    FARNET's fifth transnational seminar of the 2014-2020 programming period took place on 20-22 November 2017. The seminar aimed to raise the capacity of FLAGs to foster integration of aquaculture into their territory and stimulated exchange and peer learning between FLAGs interested in supporting their local aquaculture sector.

    FARNET's fourth transnational seminar of the 2014-2020 programming period took place on 21-23 March 2017 in Jūrmala, Latvia. The theme of the event was "Social inclusion for vibrant fisheries communities". The seminar provided a framework for discussions and practical exercises based on successful cases from the EFF/EMFF, additional EU funding instruments, as well as further initiatives aimed at social inclusion.

    FARNET's third transnational seminar of the 2014-2020 programming period took place on 18-20 October 2016. The theme of the event, “Boosting business along the fisheries supply chain”, was designed to equip Fisheries Local Action Groups with the tools to help local stakeholders tap into opportunities along the fisheries supply chain.
