The food business operator bears full responsibility for ensuring compliance with food legislation within the scope of the operation.
These industry guidelines describe how an egg packing establishment may implement procedures and documentation to fulfil the requirement for self-monitoring of its activities.
The guidelines have been developed on the basis of the Swedish Food Agency’s checklist for the inspection of egg packing establishments (link to checklist).
The guidelines do not provide a detailed description of documentation procedures, as such procedures are specific to each business. However, they contain recommendations regarding the routines and documentation necessary to meet the Swedish Food Agency’s control requirements in accordance with food legislation.
The industry guidelines are not legally binding and cannot replace knowledge of the requirements set out in the EU regulations, which constitute the applicable legislation.
