This article comments on enforcement action taken by the UK Office of Fair Trading ("OFT") against Markco Media after it heavily promoted a sale of Apple iPhone 4s when only eight handsets were available. Almost 15,000 people signed up for the sale. An employee of Markco Media also posted comments on a blog pretending to be a consumer.
As a result of the OFT investigation the company and its director signed undertakings preventing them from engaging in certain misleading commercial practices.
