inf05 Commission Services 03/06/2014 additional information Referring to the sentence “The limit of detection reported by the laboratory, known for their analysis on antibiotics, in Belgium is 1 µg/kg and given that the Commission has no other information as regards the limit of detection, the limit is acceptable for the Commission services” in information note 2 of 10 April 2014, the Commission services wish to provide the following information: Taking into account the outcome of a recent survey performed among official laboratories in the European Union (EU) , it appears that the limit of detection of 1 µg/kg for the presence of kanamycin in enzymes and enzyme preparations is not achievable by a sufficient number of laboratories across the EU and therefore absence of kanamycin in enzymes and enzyme preparations can be demonstrated by using a scientifically valid method of analysis with a limit of detection higher than 1 µg/kg (such as e.g. 15 µg/kg).
