The Italian Red Cross is part of the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. This makes the Italian Red Cross part of a worldwide movement. The Italian Red Cross follows seven fundamental principles: Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity, Universality.

16. General description of activities
The Pathways project is a strong partnership, led by the Italian Red Cross, bringing together front-line organisations working with presumed and identified victims of trafficking (P/VoT). The project contributes to improving the situation of Third-Country National presumed and identified trafficked persons and help them integrate in host societies. Activities will have a holistic approach, considering children rights and gender equality, and will consist of providing access to services and accommodation to P/VoT, facilitating access to jobs or vocational opportunities as part of a long-term support package. Training of front-line professionals will be delivered both to improve identification and integration of P/VoT and to identify and assist children P/VoT. Exchange visits between the UK, Italy and Greece will consolidate learning. The following will be the deliverable of the project for the consortium: a guideline to job access of women P/VoT, an Anti-Trafficking Manual inclusive of a methodology to facilitate P/VoT’s access to services and of standard operating procedures, an online training module on support to P/VoT, a practical guide for adapting ECPAT UK’s Participatory Youth Group model for other NGO, a chapter on child trafficking as addition to the British Red Cross Anti-trafficking Field Guide, an updated AGIRE methodology to identify and support child victims of trafficking.
17. Objectives of the activities
The objectives of the action are: improved access to services and integration of P/VoT; capacity building among responders to support children and young people; capacity built and learning shared to support P/VoT at national and European levels.
18. Results
In 2019, the Italian RC has reached 53 potential victims of trafficking, of which 31 women and 22 men, supporting them with accessing job opportunities, raising awareness about trafficking and exploitation and providing assistance and referrals to services. Moreover, 45 ItRC staff and volunteers have been trained on the new methodology to improve access to services for P/VoT, focusing on effective mapping of services and clear referral pathways. Finally, a total of 106 ItRC staff and volunteers took part in focus group discussions to develop the Anti Trafficking Manual and to assess the needs at field level with regards to training about children P/Vot. Training sessions are taking place in the first quarter of 2020. As part of this needs assessment, 4 UASC and 7 young adults hosted in ItRC reception centres participated in sessions with Save the Children Child Participation Officer to discuss the risk of trafficking and labour exploitation.
19. Challenges
Over the past two years, the context in all three countries (Italy, Greece and the UK) has considerably changed, meaning that the organizations had to adjust the activities and targets to a different context from the one when it was written. This related to changes in the migration legislation and the national referral mechanism.
