Direct access

SAIT is a secure workspace which grants registered users the ability to share information quickly about safety risks relating to defects of technical equipment between the European railway actors, as required by Directive (EU) 2016/798 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 May 2016 on railway safety.

In particular, SAIT supports compliance with Article 4(5) of the European Parliament and Council Directive (EU) 2016/798 and with Article 4(6) of the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/779.

The use of SAIT is mandatory for the Entities in Charge of Maintenance (ECMs) starting from 16th of June 2021 as stated in Article 4(6) of the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/779 of 16 May 2019 laying down detailed provisions on a system of certification of entities in charge of maintenance of vehicles pursuant to Directive (EU) 2016/798 of the European Parliament and of the Council and repealing Commission Regulation (EU) No 445/2011.

Although other relevant actors will need to satisfy the obligation in the Article 4(5) of the Directive, the use of Safety Alerts IT tool for them is still voluntary.

SAIT is overseen and technically managed by the Agency.

Important

The previous version of SAIT Drupal 7, up and running since 2016, was based on a technology which is reaching its End-Of-Life by the end of 2023. For that reason, the Agency has replaced the previous system with a new one.

Since 16/03/2023 the New SAIT is online so we strongly encourage you to use and get familiar with the new system.

As from the 31/03/2023 the SAIT Drupal 7 will be no longer accessible and the New SAIT will be the only system available for reporting alerts.
