Municipality of Gdynia

What are you doing/aiming to do for road safety?

In the years 2008-2010, the Municipality of Gdynia undertakes to reduce by 20% the number of accidents at intersections, the number of fatal casualties and the number of serious injuries resulting from road accidents. The city will actively work towards increasing infrastructure safety for bicycles and pedestrians. To reach the set objectives we will, with the participation of citizens and councils and the advice of police and external experts, identify high-risk areas in the city. On the basis of the data obtained, we will implement the following measures:
Reconstruct five intersections, identified as high-risk areas in the city.

Erect traffic lights where they are most needed.

Create pedestrian shelters and guard rails for pedestrian safety, according to the identified high-risk areas.

Implement a traffic and parking management system together with a monitoring system at high-risk intersections.

Increase traffic safety by building bicycle routes to ensure safer travel by bicycle.
