Conference focused on blue entrepreneurship, innovation and investment. Lisbon (Portugal)

The focus of the European Maritime Day 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal, will be on blue entrepreneurship, innovation and investment to transform traditional maritime sectors and boost emerging technologies and value chains. A specific focus will be put on research and innovation for a plastic-free ocean.

The European Maritime Day is the annual EU meeting point on maritime affairs and blue growth. It targets maritime professionals, entrepreneurs and ocean leaders from businesses, governments, public institutions, NGOs and academia.

Stakeholders will find the European Maritime Day a great opportunity to touch base with strategic partners, to make new contacts, get visibility for projects, activities and achievements, gain new insights into the evolving EU policy and funding landscape and provide input into European Maritime Policy formulation.

Through a dedicated matchmaking application, participants will be able to ask for matchmaking slots with other participants and post their profiles online. We are also going to offer an upgraded interactive exhibition experience with exhibitors organised by thematic clusters.

EMD 2019 will also be celebrated across Europe, through ‘EMD in my Country’ events and activities, big and small, that in 2019 will focus, in particular, on mobilising citizens and young people around the theme of responsible and sustainable use of the oceans.

So let’s dance along the waves and celebrate all things maritime as well as the gift our seas and oceans provide, from the oxygen we breathe, to the fish we eat, to the inspiration that shapes our culture and moves our bards and poets! Watch the video.

    Blue Bioeconomy workshop

It will showcase the challenges that scientists face when translating a lab-based innovation to a blue biobased business, from an early-stage startup to a globally grown company perspective, and how networks such as BBA & BBBA can offer effective support to overcome such challenges.
