The EU4Ocean coalition: what, what for, how?

Event date:
24/09/2020 - 09:30 to 10:30
Table of Contents
The opening workshop of the first event of the EU4Ocean coalition sets the societal and political importance of collective action for cost-effective ocean literacy in Europe. It introduces the logics of the online workshops organized as part of the event, from the introduction of the established communities to opportunities to contribute to the emergence of collective initiatives at the European and sea-basin scales.

The EU4Ocean coalition, an initiative supported by the European Commission, DG MARE, has been launched on World Ocean Day June 8th, 2020. It is now time to move to collective action by (1) building on the work carried out by founding members of the different communities of the coalition since its launching and (2) widening the communities with additional members, experiences, expertise and interests.

The workshop stresses the importance of collective actions for all and at all levels – building on the experience and vision of decision makers from the local to the European scales. It introduces the objectives and agendas of the online workshops organized during the two days, building on lively pitches from the workshops organisers and communities coordinators, and founding member of the EU4Ocean platform, Youth4Ocean Forum and future network of European Blue Schools.
