Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences is the largest marine-oriented research institution in Poland. The mission of the Institute (IO PAN) is to seek, understand, and communicate the scientific understanding of the marine environment and the issues related to its protection and sustainable use. The IO PAN scientists and engineers achieve this by carrying out innovative, high-level scientific and technological research that further enhances our understanding of the environment, and provides expertise and new technologies which are then shared with interested parties from the public and private sector. The IO PAN has a long-lasting experience in preparation, organization and running of various types of workshops, both on an international and local levels. These workshops are shaped for concrete needs and are dedicated to various types of audiences including, stakeholders, decision makers, general public, young learners. We use our own materials and procedures and/or use the ready procedures, which are required by the particular project requirements. Our workshops have been organized within our own competence, by the members of the CORE – Climate and Ocean Research and Education unit, and within the framework of a number of international initiatives, including FP7 Sea for Society (, Interreg, Land-Sea-Act (, among others. We also run a set of workshops, entitled Ocean of changes (, which are based on our own materials and procedures, and are dedicated to young learners.
