Formed in 2016, the Irish Ocean Literacy Network (IOLN) is an all-Ireland group, who vision is to achieve an ocean literate society in Ireland. This is described as a society which understands the ocean’s influence on it and its influence on the ocean. Its membership, which includes individuals and organisations stretches across the Island, and is made up of a number of discipline areas including non-governmental organisations, charities, industry (marine and non-marine based), Industry (non-marine based), public engagement and education, public bodies and leisure, research and academia and media.
