PIPEYE is a compact hybrid ROV/AUV with tracks, batteries on board and 3 km FO umbilical, specifically designed for the inspection of large submerged pipes, addressing the shore industrial plants market as a service.

The problem we are solving

PIPEYE can inspect internally long pipes over 1 km in a cost-effective manner avoiding risking human lives and with an easier mobilization and set-up compared to current ROV systems. Means used to carry out inspections in shore industrial plants implies the use of divers in confined spaces therefore putting in risk human lives. In most cases this implies to stop the plant which is not always possible or easy to program and coordinate with the inspection. Mobilization complexity for 1km or more (umbilical), needing big trucks to move it.

Brief biography of founders and CEO

Dario Sosa, PhD: Mechanical Engineer and CEO of SSM; 15+ years experience with robotics and marine technology. After his PhD that included an internship in the USA at UT Houston, he worked in the Astrophysics Institute of the Canaries, and after that, he moved to PLOCAN R&D infrastructure, before jumping to the private sector. Luis Sanchez: Telecoms and Electronic Engineer, ROS and electronic expert; CTO of SSM. Aaron Martinez: Computer Engineer, CAD and manufacturing expert; CPO of SSM. The owners of SSM started working together in 2011. In 2014 they found their 1st company, now SSM. In 2019 they opened a start-up in The Netherlands, Toolbot Robotics, within the PortXL program. With the brand Lpa Fabrika, for robotics education, they have reached more than 10.000 kids and the general public.

TOOLBOT offers a solution for the last mile dredging operations where spots are hard to reach, where underneath infrastructures must be maintained or when conventional methods are oversized to actuate with precision. We make possible recurrent maintenance dredging in ports and marinas even in water dams due to an easy mobilisation by road truck using an underwater dredging vehicle. The DROGO project is product oriented towards the market. PARGO is a compact hybrid ROV/AUV with tracks, batteries on board and FO umbilical to reach large distances addressing the inspection market, specifically in the marine wind farms and industrial plants. PARGO is intended to be used as a services for subsea inspections.
