[img_assist|nid=2230|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=128|height=40]The aim of the Channel Programme, developed and led by Ifremer Boulogne-sur-Mer, is to contribute to knowledge in support of the management of marine biological resources by developing a systemic, integrated, multi-partnership approach across the maritime area. Research work covers the description of habitats of living marine resources, understanding the function of the trophic network, quantifying the impact of human activities on those two components, and defining new management strategies for sustainable exploitation of marine natural resources.
The aim of the programme is to render legible and available the information gathered, so that it can be integrated efficiently into public policies – that calls for an increased effort in terms of communication, transfers of knowledge, and exchanges of knowledge between the stakeholders involved.
L’objectif du Chantier Manche, mis en place et piloté par l'Ifremer Boulogne-sur-Mer, est de contribuer aux connaissances en appui à la gestion des ressources biologiques marines en développant une approche intégrée et multi-partenariale de type systémique sur cet espace maritime. Les travaux de recherche couvrent la description des habitats des ressources marines vivantes, la compréhension du fonctionnement du réseau trophique, la quantification de l’impact des activités humaines sur ces deux composantes et la définition de nouvelles stratégies de gestion pour une exploitation durable des ressources naturelles marines.
L’ambition du chantier est également de rendre lisible et disponible les informations récoltées afin qu’elles puissent être incorporées efficacement aux politiques publiques, ce qui passe par un effort accru de communication, de transfert des connaissances et d’échanges de savoirs entre les acteurs impliqués.
