Launching event: Workshop on integrated maritime policy and maritime spatial planning in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea

The dedicated workshop will be held under the working title "Workshop on integrated maritime policy and marine spatial planning in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea". The European Commission's contribution will encompass the co-organisation of the Launching event of the 7-day workshop, meant to take place on 20 September 2016 in Dalyan (Turkey). While the European Commission will co-organise the Launching event, MEDCOAST Foundation will be in charge of the 7-day workshop that follows.

Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Ministerial Conference on Blue Economy, 17 November 2015

Over 100 participants from 33 countries, including about a dozen Ministers/State Secretaries, as well as Commissioners Johannes Hahn and Karmenu Vella met in Brussels for the first Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Ministerial Conference on Blue Economy.

BLUEMED High-level Conference - 16 October at Pavillion Aquae – Expo Venice, Venice, Italy

The BLUEMED initiative (as part of the Marine Research and Innovation agenda) represents a huge effort to create coherence amongst marine research and innovation priorities at EU, sea basin and national levels and to mainstream blue growth objectives into the relevant instruments. The BLUEMED initiative will be endorsed by nine EU Member States (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Croatia, Greece and Cyprus) on 16 October in Venice, in the presence of Commissioner Moedas.

Call for Proposals for IMP-related actions in the Black Sea and the Mediterranean (Evaluation phase)

The main aim of this call is to support coordinated action in the context of the IMP, which will carry inter-sectoral and cross-border elements. The call seeks to promote mutual understanding, awareness-raising and joint responses to well-identified challenges hindering integration between maritime sectors in areas such as marine research, coastal and maritime tourism, maritime transport, marine environment, business and skills development, and clustering of maritime activities. Given these varied targets, the call will award one grant to each of the following actions:

EMODnet Information day at Ifremer - draft agenda

Ifremer is heavily engaged in development and maintenance of the European Marine Observation and Data Network. They are also significant contributors to the Copernicus marine core service and data collection in fisheries.
