PROJECT DESCRIPTION
BACKGROUND
abaton's panels for radiant heating & cooling, humidity regulation and room acoustics enhance energy and resource efficiency in the building sector. This supports the EU's energy, climate adaptation and circular economy goals by: abaton's solution enhances energy and resource efficiency in the building sector, supporting the EU's energy, climate adaptation and circular economy goals and achieving CO2-neutral production by: -Improving energy savings by 10-30% compared to existing best practice space cooling technologies. -Solving condensation and dehumidification issues in radiant cooling systems, broadening its field of application to buildings without mechanical ventilation systems and Southern European regions -Creating a CO2-neutral circular production process by upcycling demolished concrete in a manner that captures more carbon than emitted during production, with parts recycled at the end of product life. This project aims to industrialise the creation of abaton panels by building dedicated machinery to refine recycled concrete rubble and automate the production. Once we have demonstrated the automated production process, we will license the product and machinery to precast facilities around the EU for mass production. An industrial partner is ready to provide R&D space, but the industrial and technological risk remains too high for full market funding for automation. abaton is the brainchild of two leading Austrian engineering firms, TB Obkircher and TB Käferhaus, who specialise in sustainable energy systems. With over 30 years of experience pioneering energy-efficient solutions for major Austrian projects, we have partnered with leading universities, industrial manufacturers, engineers and architects to successfully deliver this project. Our approach is a proven technology used in numerous sites, including the Prater Museum and the refurbishment of the European Patent Office in Vienna, demonstrating the effectiveness of our sustainable cooling solution.
