PROJECT DESCRIPTION
BACKGROUND
The project aims to develop new profiles for blue-collar installers, focusing on green and smart technologies. This is crucial for preparing the workforce to meet the demands of advanced systems such as Building Automation Control Systems (BACS), advanced HVAC, and integrated energy management solutions. Current qualifications at EQF levels 3 and 4 are insufficient for these new challenges, making it essential to upgrade competencies to EQF levels 4 and 5. By recognizing new units of competence tailored to these advancements, the project will improve the capacity of installers to implement the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). Important component of the project is the Observatory Lab, which will serve as a platform for aligning market needs with training programs developed by Continuing Vocational Education and Training (CVET) providers. The Observatory will monitor skill gaps and emerging trends, supporting both the implementation of the project and its scaling up post-project. The project aims to raise skills of 3,500 installers in 5 years after its end, expanding the 355 participants reached during the implementation. This continuous collaboration between CVET schools, industry experts, and policymakers ensures that the training remains relevant and adaptable to technological changes. In addition, the project will launch a One-Stop Shop for trainers, which will consolidate resources and expertise from, researchers, industry experts, and experienced trainers. This platform will facilitate access to shared learning materials and best practices, ensuring trainers are well-prepared to deliver high-quality education on green and smart technologies. This collaborative approach will also foster ongoing professional development for trainers, who will be instrumental in guiding blue-collar workers through these advanced systems.
