PROJECT DESCRIPTION
BACKGROUND
Facilitating large-scale deep renovation The AREC (Agro Reno Empower Collective) is a consortium of well-established market transformers from France, Germany, the NL, Italy, Belgium and Ireland. It aims to support next stage of collective buy-in schemes for deep renovation across entire districts, thanks to more cooperation, inclusive workforce, bio & agro materials and improved business models. The project proposes 3 key domains of change: - Demand side activation with greater standardisation & aggregation: it will provide tools and guidance to building owners (residents & housing organisations) with improved standard retrofit packages for One Stop Shops (product catalogue), including low carbon and climate adaptation solutions, an online platform to better organize collective buy-in-schemes and demonstration roadshow to scale up the demand - Supply side cooperation with integrated upcycling and more inclusive workforce: it will provide methods and training to building companies & SMEs for more cooperation and improved circular practices, to optimize their costs and quality of delivery. It will support SMEs to attract a more inclusive workforce and to embed the upcycling culture in renovation projects - Improved market conditions with a diversified suite of financial instruments: it will support scale up of district-based renovation schemes to accelerate their roll-out: switching from “one-house” approaches to “district-wide” approaches with a consideration for Community Land Trust (CLT) investment, citizen crowdfunding for deep renovation, circular business model and energy performance guarantee. Gamification will be used across all three domains of change to facilitate the development of better integrated and standardised renovation offers while drawing in new demographics and stakeholders to the process. Moreover, the project aims to make emerge 4 collective buy-in-schemes embedding these innovations in 4 countries: France, Italy, Germany & Ireland.
