PROJECT DESCRIPTION
BACKGROUND
The EcoSMEnergy project targets the issue of high energy consumption in SMEs grappling with challenges related to energy efficiency, lack of awareness, motivation, of access to financial solutions. Besides, businesses struggle with complex information and fragmented support schemes. The primary objective is to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability in SMEs across key sectors, including chemical manufacturing (C20), pharmaceuticals (C21), rubber and plastic products (C22), metal products (C25), electronics (C26), electrical equipment (C27), machinery (C28), and automotive manufacturing (C29). The project employs various tools, such as: Energy Management System Platform (EnMS), Energy Efficiency Hub, monitoring tool via the Impawatt platform (to be adapted), energy audits, training/workshops, etc, as well as structured and simplified information (meant to help internal decision-making processes within businesses) to achieve its goal. Round-tables will be organised, aiming to involve financial institutions in the solutions offered, and synergies will be created with other existing initiatives (including the European Energy Community Facility). Communication and exploitation will help ensure engagement and sustainability. Notably, the project's impact is substantial: it anticipates significant primary and final energy savings, renewable energy generation, a reduction in GHG emissions, and substantial investments in sustainable energy. The outcomes translate into cost reductions for SMEs (and therefore higher competitiveness levels), environmental sustainability, and substantial contributions to EU energy efficiency goals and policies. The proposal offers a holistic solution to address energy challenges in SMEs, with tangible impacts on energy efficiency and sustainability, while aligning with EU directives focused on energy efficiency and promoting clean energy transitions. Our project aims not only to drive immediate cost reductions and environmental sustainability in SMEs, but also to position these businesses as pivotal contributors to the European Union's ambitious energy efficiency targets, fostering a brighter, cleaner future for all.
