1. It is possible to make aggregation over time, indeed. But it common mistake to make a simple sum (because in this time it is about seeking unique occurrence in the time) - not always easy to digest :-)

2. Unique Browser, indeed, does NOT measure number of people but different devices. The Unique Browser is a combination of IP+UserAgent - in order to solve the problem of peoples hidden behind a proxy (like EC). At the same time it raise, indeed, the problem of 1 person accessing website with different devices - it's why it is important to know what each indicator means. And the change of the name of the indicator by IFABC ( to drop the word visitor is only good (while I would personally opt for "UniqueDevice" (not browsers)

3.The Europa Analytics indicators are based on the industrial standards set by IFABC who defines the UNIQUE BROWSER as a unique and valid identifier: using (i) IP + User-Agent, (ii) Cookie and/ or (iii) Registration ID ( As the DIGIT does not allow to collect cookies due to the technical constrains and we can not with the current configuration of the EUROPA use the RegistrationID - on Europa Analytics the UNIQUE BROWSERS is as a unique and valid identifier: using (i) IP + User-Agent.

In the case of the 2 persons having the same public ID and using identically configured workstation (which is more and more rare) - they are counted, indeed as 1 Unique Browser. At the contrary 1 person browsing from the office, home and via smartphone - is counted as 3 Unique Browsers. 3 different persons browsing from an internet caffee - are counted as 1 UniqueBrowser.

Note: Do not mix SAS WA - an software platform, with Europa Analytics - a service (for which the SW is adapted ... including even metrics)
