Global and Intercultural Dimension in Curriculum Development

For tertiary level, corresponding aims and objectives are set out in the Higher Education Act (Högskolelagen, SFS 1992:1434) and in the annual budget documents and are further reflected in the universities’ and university colleges’ internationalisation plans.

Internationalisation is regarded as an important quality aspect in higher education and research. Most higher education institutions have internationalisation plans and one or more administrators dealing with issues relating to internationalisation. Almost all higher education institutions have a Bologna Process Coordinator in charge of the implementation of the aims and objectives of the Process at institutional level.

In accordance with the Lisbon Convention, the Higher Education Ordinance (Högskoleförordningen, 1993:100) entails regulations about the recognition of higher education qualifications and stipulates that a Diploma Supplement shall be issued automatically together with higher education diplomas.
