A partnership of seven Greek FLAGs is looking for a transnational partner experienced in comprehensive management of protected areas including touristic activities to make them more attractive. This expertise would be collected in order to develop a management guide that will be used for the improvement of the area’s attractiveness and its guidelines and directions will be applied in the project’s publicity material (guides with alternative forms of tourism, signs, etc).
Situated on the Black Sea, the FLAG area is characterised by a series of reliefs and cliffs. Inland the region includes a network of lakes and the territory is crossed by a significant number of rivers, including the Casimcea with a length of 50km and a river basin of 740km2. The operation of Hästholmen harbour involves the cooperation of several local actors. Through a series of FLAG projects, the port has been improved and developed in accordance with the local community’s needs and opportunities.
‘Tarta-Tur’, a combination of the Italian word for turtle (Tartaruga) and dolphin in Latin (Tursiops), is a conservation project involving four FLAGs across three Italian regions on the Northern Adriatic Coast.
--ARCHIVED as of 31 January 2020-- The FLAG is located along the South Eastern shores of County Down. The three main villages include in the territory are Ardglass, Kilkeel and Portavogie. The historic coastal ports of these three which comprises 95% of the fisheries industry in Northern Ireland. All are historic coastal ports, with many families working in the fishing industry for generations.
--ARCHIVED as of 31 January 2020-- The main population centres are primarily located towards the coastal fringes in the larger towns of Ayr, Troon and Girvan, with fishing an important industry in these towns. There are many coastal communities in North Ayrshire, some of which are viewed as relatively affluent areas and locations for retirement. The economy is largely based on tourism, including sailing.
The Chioggia and the Delta Po GAC FLAG proposes launching an inter-territorial and transnational cooperation project called "Coastal Agreement for SMART Coastal Areas".
The Vidourle Camargue FLAG has collaborated with local stakeholders on a pilot scheme for collecting and recycling marine litter. The mix of plastic waste collected by the local fishermen are recycled all together thanks to an innovative industrial process.
