  • French FLAG helps launch a CLLD-type dynamic in Tunisia

    A four-year project to bring participative local development to the Kerkennah islands has proved that CLLD can be a valuable tool beyond the shores of Europe. Funded by ENPARD under the EU’s neighbourhood policy, the project, known as DEVLOK, has invested around €1.2M in these Tunisian fishing communities, diversifying the local economy and creating 47 new companies and 89 jobs.

  • Improving eel stocks in Lake Bolmen

    To improve eel production in Lake Bolmen, the Halland FLAG has supported an initiative aimed at investigating why eel stocks are lower than expected compared to other similar sized lakes in Sweden. As eel are of high value to local fishers and tourism in the area, the project aims to identify and improve the cause of reduced eel stocks in the lake.

    Los pescadores del lugar, con el apoyo del GALP, están ayudando a hacer que se cumplan las medidas de protección y a detener la pesca furtiva en la reserva marina de interés pesquero más antigua de la región, Cabo de Palos. Gracias a la mejora de la protección, se ha logrado un aumento de las especies endémicas.

  • Mobile App for reporting catch data

    The East Finland FLAG has supported the creation of a mobile app for Finnish inland fishers to register their catches. Developed by a University of Applied Sciences and introduced in May 2020, the tool will enhance catch-data collection and traceability along the fisheries value chain.
  • Seals and Cormorants in the Baltic: Addressing a common environmental challenge

    A large-scale cooperation project between Baltic FLAGs has increased knowledge on the impact the growing seal and cormorant populations are having on small-scale coastal fisheries in the region. Through this cooperation project, FLAGs have developed solutions for achieving the balanced management of marine resources.
