The coastline of the Alto Salento FLAG area covers 104km of coastline and is situated in Puglia.

The area covers eleven municipalities in the province of Reggio Calabria and nine municipalities in the province of Vibo Valentina. The FLAG addresses the entire local community with the aim to raise the level of knowledge and skills for creating new professionalism and new small businesses in the area.
The FLAG area is situated in the southeast of Sicily and encompasses the provinces of Siracusa and Ragusa. The region has a strong agriculture and tourism sectors and a historical seafaring culture.
The FLAG area is situated in the western part of Sicily and the region’s economy is largely dependent on the sea. Fishing and canning are the two main local industries and fishers typically catch tuna using the ‘mattanza’ technique.
The area is characterised by a strong coastal urbanisation receiving 50% of the tourists that visit the Ligurian coast. Agriculture and industry are also well developed.
The Blue Coast FLAG area’s main features are the wide hill zone, interrupted by a big river valley, and several densely populated coastal towns. The sandy shore has a Mediterranean climate and scrub.
The FLAG area has remained unchanged compared to Axis 4, and includes four municipalities (Chioggia, Rosolina, Porto Viro and Porto Tolle) in the provinces of Venice and Rovigo.
The FLAG area lies along the northern coast of the Marche region, covers five municipalities (Gabbice Mare, Pesaro, Fano, Mondolfo and Senigallia) and has Axis 4 experience.
The FLAG area is included in three provinces and seven municipalities. Fishing activities on the Sicilian islands are mainly small-scale and coastal. Their challenges include poorly developed infrastructure in landing areas, a lack of real fish markets and a low number of processing facilities.
