The FLAG area is a coastal region situated near the city of Rostock in the north German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and has a 62km coastline. In the west, the Wustrow peninsula rises into the Baltic Sea and surrounds the Salzhaff with the mainland. The Warnow river flows through the region and into the Baltic Sea at Rostock.
“Take care of the Ocean and the Ocean will take care of you”. This project has adapted the concept of Green Care to provide a therapeutic experience through work in an outdoors, marine environment. Getting immersed in the world of fish will, it is hoped, turn some difficult lives around.
Kainuu-Koillismaa is an area of dispersed settlement in North-East Finland with hundreds of lakes. The fishing traditions are strong and vital both among professional and non-professional fishermen. The lakes are mostly underfished and aquaculture has great potential.
The East Finland FLAG covers the large lake area of Saimaa located across four eastern provinces of Finland. There is a great potential to develop fisheries due to the large lake area, underexploited fish stocks, good demand for fish and excellent water quality.
Bothnian Bay is in the northernmost part of the Gulf of Bothnia and Baltic Sea. It freezes over completely every winter. There are several forms of fishing found here: mainly trap and gillnet, trawl fishing (when there is no ice), dragnet and net fishing in winter.
The FLAG area is located on the Northern and North-Eastern coast of Estonia. Small-scale coastal fishing of mostly flounder, perch and salmon is the main activity of local fishermen. This fish is mainly marketed directly to end consumers.
The FLAG is located on the Baltic sea coast. It has many valuable assets, in particular its nature, landscape and culture. The fisheries sector, together with tourism, play and important role in the economy.
The area covers seven municipalities north of the city of Warsaw, and is unique in the Mazovia region in that 8% of its surface is covered by water. This is due in part to the meeting of three large rivers: the Vistula, the Narew and the Bug.
The FLAG area is situated on the Atlantic coast and has a strong maritime history and attractive environment. With cities such as La Rochelle and the island of Ré, the area is a stronghold for marine tourism, blue growth and maritime economy.
