    Cooperation is strongly encouraged by the programme authorities in France and FLAGs were required to lay out their plans for cooperation within their local development strategies in their bid to gain EMFF funding. In some cases, cooperation is viewed as a transversal tool to strengthen the impact of all areas of FLAG work and, in other cases, cooperation is programmed as an area of work in its own right with specific objectives.

    To restore natural balance to ecosystems on the Swedish archipelago, the Stockholmsbygd FLAG has supported an initiative aimed at reinstating coastal wetlands in an effort to increase pike stocks. Key predators in the Baltic, pike are essential to maintaining biodiversity and healthy waters in the area.

    The International Day of Marine Tourism and Pesca-tourism will take place on the 24th of September in the city of Pontevedra (Spain). On this day, the three FLAGs located in the Rías Baixas (Galicia) will present the results of the third edition of the Mar das Illas project, whose main objective is economic diversification through the promotion of marine tourism among fishers and their families.
  • Promoting the territory through culinary heritage and local seafood

    The Gargano LAG integrated the promotion of cultural and gastronomy heritage into their local development plan. This includes the development and promotion of the seafood sector. To do so, it supported the development of the Pesca Mia app, which connects the seafood sector, restaurants and private consumers.
  • An aquarium supplied by local fishermen on the Wild Atlantic Way

    A local company set up by Achill community two decades ago, has created an aquarium in a disused building they own, engaging volunteers, retired fishers and fisheries-related workers. The Achill Experience Aquarium and Visitors Centre became the first cultural space in Ireland based on local fisheries heritage and remains one of the biggest attractions of the county.
  • AKTES - Transnational Coastal Quality Pact

    Pillio FLAG is looking for partners from Cyprus, Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal and France to create a transnational organisation (AKTES). The purpose of the organisation is the development and implementation a transnational quality agreement (pact) joining tourism stakeholders under a common strategy. The strategy aims to guarantee a minimum quality for products and services; improving the tourist offer of those areas; mitigating seasonality; and encouraging better incomes and working conditions for local communities in coastal areas.

    A partnership of seven Greek FLAGs is looking for a transnational partner experienced in comprehensive management of protected areas including touristic activities to make them more attractive. This expertise would be collected in order to develop a management guide that will be used for the improvement of the area’s attractiveness and its guidelines and directions will be applied in the project’s publicity material (guides with alternative forms of tourism, signs, etc).
