    The FLAG area covers the entire municipality of Norddjurs, which is notable for its long coastline, made up of sandy beaches – like much of the Danish coastline. This flat coastal landscape attracts tourists from Norway and Germany – as well as domestic visitors. Tourism is the area’s dominant sector. Fishermen struggle now to make a living, but there has been an increase in the number of small businesses processing seaweed, for both food and nonfood uses.

    Le soutien financier de l’Axe 4 a permis à un pêcheur de l'île de Hiiumaa, en Estonie, de diversifier ses activités en dehors de la saison de pêche grâce à la production d'engins de pêche et de différentes sortes de filets. En plus de créer un emploi à temps partiel pour lui-même, le pêcheur a également créé quatre emplois à temps plein pour des femmes de l’île.

    The FLAG’s area coincides with the area covered by the Municipality of Pescara, a middle size city in the centre of the Adriatic coast of Italy, its shore is characterised by typical Mediterranean scrub (“la macchia mediterranea”).
