The Tirschenreuth FLAG region may have a long history of small family-owned aquaculture ponds but aquaculture did not always have the standing it enjoys today. The thousand-year-old tradition was almost forgotten when the FLAG took action to restore its cultural significance in the area.

La Marina FLAG area consists of seven municipalities on the Mediterranean coastal area of Alicante which are Benidorm, Calp, El Campello, Dénia, Xàbia, Teulada and La Vila Joiosa. The municipalities belong to the three coastal regional provinces of La Marina Alta, La Marina Baixa and y L´Alacantí.

The area is located on the Baltic Sea coast and is characterised by significant natural assets. There are two fishing ports: Ustka and Rowy. The area includes about 10% of all fish resources caught by the Polish fleet.

The FLAG area covers the entire island of Bornholm, located in the Baltic sea to the east of the rest of Denmark and to the south of Sweden. The main industries on the island include fishing, dairy farming, and during the summer, tourism. The island’s heritage is characterised by crafts such as glass production and pottery, and a particularly large amount of round churches.

The FLAG is situated in the central part of Latvia close to the capital city – Riga. It covers around 75 km of the coastline along the Gulf of Riga. The area has notable inland water sources like the Engure, Kaņieris, Sloka and Valgums lakes. The coastal area has a well-developed fish processing (14 enterprises that employ around 800 people) and tourism sectors (66 enterprises that count for over 200 jobs).
