    This FLAG area covers the municipality of Thisted (the area around the town of Thy), situated on the north-west coast of Jutland, and the municipality of Morsø (the island of Mors) located in the Limfjord. Thy and Mors are characterised by a few large manufacturing companies with expertise in health technology and robotics, and more traditional production companies in the metal, wood, and food industries.

    The area covers 11 municipalities and is located in the basin of the Odra river and its tributaries: the Nysa Kłodzka, the Mała Panew and the Stobrawa. The area is largely rural and has strong links with the fishing tradition. There are many active fishermen and NGOs dealing with fisheries culture, history, promotion of local fish products and education.

    FLAG cooperation in Slovenia is mandatory and all FLAGs had to foresee it in their strategies. In the period 2007-2013 there was only one FLAG in Slovenia, covering the coastal area, but in 2014-2020 there are also three new FLAGs in inland areas.

    The FLAG area covers the entire island of Bornholm, located in the Baltic sea to the east of the rest of Denmark and to the south of Sweden. The main industries on the island include fishing, dairy farming, and during the summer, tourism. The island’s heritage is characterised by crafts such as glass production and pottery, and a particularly large amount of round churches.

    Marine sponges are filter feeder organisms known to accumulate metallic trace elements and digest fecal bacteria from the marine environment. That’s why academic researchers from the LBCM (Université de Bretagne Sud) teamed up with shellfish farmers to explore the filtration capacities of marine sponges to improve sea-water quality in shellfish farming areas.
