The FLAG area includes the most developed area of the island of Crete (North West and North East coastal parts of Heraklion) in terms of tourism. Despite the extensive coastline, fishing is limited to demersal and small pelagic fish species which are promoted to the local fish markets.

The FLAG area covers parts of Heraklion and Rethymno. The area has significant port infrastructure, fishing harbours and fishing shelters. The fisheries communities have similar social, economic and development characteristics.

The FLAG area is a sub region on the island of Evia which is geographically located in the epicentre of the Greek Mainland. The main challenges in the area are sustainable development, increasing competitiveness, job creation and improving the quality of life.

The FLAG area is part of Evia Island, Greece’s second largest island in terms of size and population after Crete, and located in the centre of Greece. The FLAG area covers most of the North Sea coastal strip which belongs to Lower Saxony. It includes the counties of Cuxhaven, Wesermarsch, Friesland, Wittmund, Aurich and Leer.

The coastline of the Alto Salento FLAG area covers 104km of coastline and is situated in Puglia. Industry in the region was historically dominated by agriculture.

The FLAG area is situated in Puglia (Italy’s ‘boot heel’) and is known for white painted towns, centuries-old farmland and hundreds of kilometres of Mediterranean coastline, the longest in the country.

The F/LAG’s area covers about 20 Km of Apulian coastline along the Adriatic Sea to the north of Bari, including three municipalities Trani, Bisceglie and Molfetta (the last two were part of the Terre di Mare FLAG) . The coast is mainly rocky and calcareous, with some long sandy and pebble shores.

The Gargano F/LAG area is made up of a peninsula in northern Apulia. A part of it was covered by the former GAC Lagune del Gargano.
