New start-up, Fil & Fab, is tackling the issue of marine litter by developing the first French recycling network for old fishing nets.

Kerteminde Organic Mussel Farm represents the first Danish business to commercialise open-water raised mussels. The company aims to produce high-quality mussels in an efficient and environmentally-friendly way, in turn, boosting the area’s marine activities and creating local jobs.

“Salina Greens” is a Portuguese business dedicated to the organic production and processing of Salicornia, a native plant species growing on salt marshes. This production system helps preserve areas of high environmental value, while supporting the local economy.

The FLAG territory is specifically focused on aquaculture and partially includes the areas of two counties, Alba and Hunedoara, which are situated along the Mureș river basin. Economic activities in the region are spread among the construction, commerce and services, agriculture and fisheries, and tourism sectors.

‘Tarta-Tur’, a combination of the Italian word for turtle (Tartaruga) and dolphin in Latin (Tursiops), is a conservation project involving four FLAGs across three Italian regions on the Northern Adriatic Coast.

--ARCHIVED as of 31 January 2020-- Pembrokeshire has a long tradition of fishing, both sea and freshwater. Tenby was the prime fishing port of the area for many centuries. More recently Milford Haven has developed and taken more of a predominant role in the area’s fishing industry; this was also due in large to Tenby becoming more of a holiday resort.

The Chioggia and the Delta Po GAC FLAG proposes launching an inter-territorial and transnational cooperation project called "Coastal Agreement for SMART Coastal Areas".

The FLAG territory includes 52 coastal villages across five islands in the Western group of the Azores archipelago. The Azores is located on the Atlantic Ridge. Its relief is very rugged. The lines of relief run in an east-west direction, matching the fracture lines to which the islands owe their formation.

The FLAG area covers the two most western islands of the Azores archipelago, Santa Maria and São Miguel. The area’s fisheries sector is characterised by traditional small-scale fisheries (mainly small siege, pole and long-line vessels). Common catches include small (mackerel and sardines) and large pelagic (tuna and swordfish) species, deep-water demersal, crustaceans and molluscs.

Laukiem Jūrai FLAG (Partnership for Rural and the sea) are looking for national/international partners from FLAG villages that are involved in implementing the concept of a ‘Smart Village’. They would like to learn from good practice examples and can offer the possibility to see first-hand the implementation of specific smart solution initiatives in Latvian villages.
