Area

The FLAG area is situated in the eastern part of Pomerania, on the Baltic Sea coast and the coast of the Vistula Lagoon. The fishing sector, including processing, harbour services and fish trade are important for the local economy. There are ten fishing harbours, the main species of fish landed here are herring, flounder and cod.

One of the key challenges for fishermen is the high number of cormorants. Another challenge is very low level of employment (per 1000 inhabitants, only 140 persons are employed). Opportunities include stimulating cooperation between the fishing sector and companies active in services, increasing the sale and trade of fish, as well as linking fish products to tourism and business development.
