Area

The Terra d’Arneo territory spans the vicinity of the Apulian coast and operates a multi-fund Local Development Strategy (LDS). The area is characterised by small-scale traditional fishing enterprises. Seasonally the area has a strong tourism industry, while fishing activities are year-round.

The area’s economy is strongly linked to fisheries and tourism has a substantial seasonal impact. The main challenge for the F/LAG and its LDS is the coordination and integration of these two sectors and the other leading sectors of the local economy. Central to the challenge is the growth of the areas tourism industry not impacting on traditional fisheries activities and the local small-scale enterprises.
