Area

The FLAG covers 18 municipalities located in the south-western part of Swietokrzyskie region. The FLAG area is mostly rural, with jobs located mainly in the towns of Jędrzejów, Małogoszcz, Sędziszów and Włoszczowa. There are eight large fish farms and some smaller farms, producing mainly different varieties of carp as well as trout and pike. The fish is sold in the local market or to wholesalers in big cities, there are also two fish processing plants.

The key challenge is a high unemployment rate which has become a permanent feature of the area. Many young people migrate from the region to look for jobs elsewhere (in Poland or abroad). Another challenge is to diversify the fishing activity using the water potential of the area, by, for example developing such activities as direct sales or on-farm processing of fish, rural tourism and angling.
