The FLAG is a geographically homogeneous area located in the south of Teleorman county on the left bank of the Danube River. There are many rivers, lakes and ponds located here. The main fishing area is located along the 85km long coastline.

The predominant industries are: food and beverages, textiles, chemicals and mechanical components. Agriculture, both small and large scale remains the main occupation in the county.

The local fisheries sector presents both challenges and opportunities for development- its potential also being important for other sectors, such as tourism.
