The FLAG area covers numerous lakes and forests, including two large lakes: Wdzydze (1570 ha) and Charzykowskie (1364 ha). There are 89 fishing businesses, most of them involved in lake fishing (76), the others are aquaculture farms. However, only 21% of them obtain most of their income from fishing, for the others, fishing contributes only to a small part of their income.

One of the challenges is the low competitiveness of local businesses, including those active in fishing and water-related tourism. The tourism and recreational potential of the area as well as its cultural and natural assets are not sufficiently explored.

FLAG strategy

The FLAG intends to focus on two main themes:

The active involvement of the community in the local labour market (creating jobs for unemployed persons and ensuring the sustainability of micro-enterprises) and improving business(SME) development on the basis of the fisheries and water-related assets of the area; in this, the FLAG will primarily support individual beneficiaries, including unemployed persons, and businesses (e.g. fisheries businesses intending to diversify into other sectors)
Promoting the area as a coherent tourism destination and sustainable use of its natural assets and cultural heritage; here the beneficiaries will be mainly NGOs and public-sector actors.

The FLAG has experience in: promoting its region, supporting NGOs and helping unemployed persons in becoming active in the labour market
They are also interested in exchanging experiences they have had in promoting the region and activation of the unemployed

The FLAG is a member of the informal Pomeranian FLAG network (Maszoperia). Its area is partly covered by a LEADER LAG (Sandry Brdy) with whom it coordinates its activities and shares some board members.

The public sector is represented in the membership by the 13 municipalities. There are several fish production or processing businesses (DRO-RYB, SEKO, EVRAFISH, trout production company, fish farms, ASTACUS crayfish breeding company etc.) in the membership. There are also several local development associations, as well as the Sandry Brdy LAG.
