Area

The FLAG is located on the Baltic coast in the region of Western Pomerania. This area has a long tradition of small-scale fisheries whose boats are operated from the beach. They catch mainly flounder and cod. There is also aquaculture production (mainly trout) and several large fish processing plants.

Challenges include high unemployment and low level of business development, a high dependence on social benefits, insufficient infrastructure and insufficiently used tourism potential. Incomes of the fisheries sector (especially the coastal fleet) are very low.

Type of area:
Sea Basins:
Protected areas:

Over 18% of the area is protected. There are many Natura 2000 Special Areas of Habitats Conservation, as well as many natural monuments. The Parsęta river and its tributaries are home to several valuable and protected fish species.
