Area

The FLAG territory includes part of the Italian Riviera known as the Riviera dei Fiori, which runs from Diano Marina to Ventimiglia. The name of the FLAG translates to ‘The Sea of the Alps’ and refers to the area’s proximity to the Ligurian Alps. As such, the region’s geography offers the potential for developing tourism activities and diversifying the area’s fisheries.

Challenges for the FLAG area include developing tourism in a way that does not have a detrimental effect on local communities. Moreover, the area’s local communities should be the focal point of these advances. Central to this challenge is maintaining the added value created by tourism in the local economy and communities.
