The FLAG has an important fisheries and aquaculture sector, accounting for 3.5% of the total number of active enterprises in the area. The tertiary sector represents 75% of active enterprises with a strong prevalence of business, housing, catering and professional activities. In terms of remaining economic activity, the secondary sector accounts for 23% and the primary sector accounts for 1.6%. Large areas of the lagoon, which are productive for fisheries and aquaculture, are of great importance to the area.

FLAG strategy

The FLAG aims to support the fishermen's communities and those involved in sustainable tourism. It intends to promote an innovative and multi-sectoral vision for a sustainable and long-term development of these fishing areas involving local skills and strongly integrating the local culture.

FLAG actions will support the innovation of infrastructure and production processes that directly involve the fisheries sector. Targeted beneficiaries are both individual fishermen and cooperatives operating in the area.

Furthermore, the FLAG will continue to support diversification activities in fisheries initiated during the 2007-2013 programming period, and foster participation and cooperation within the fishing community.
