The FLAG's territory is characterised by diverse coastal areas and inland hills. Many areas in the region are protected and are important environmentally. The area’s coastal fisheries play a fundamental role in the region’s economy; however, they are small-scale and limited in terms of production and profitability.
Challenges for the FLAG area include the sectors inability to grow due to its limited infrastructure. Still, the region also has a rich cultural heritage. Using this cultural heritage to the sectors advantage is a challenge for the area and FLAG. The diversification of fisheries activities are also a challenge for the area.
The FLAG’s territory includes the following protected areas: Isola di Licosa, Punta Licosa e dintorni, Monte Tresino, Parco Nazionale del Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni.
