Area

The FLAG is located in the inland part of the Pomeranian region and includes many lakes and rivers as well as fish farms. The rivers of the area are home to many valuable species of salmonid fish and, as such, offer excellent angling opportunities. The Słupia river basin in the FLAG area is the only natural breeding place of Atlantic salmon in Poland.

The main challenge for the area is to develop fisheries-related businesses based on the endogenous potential of the area while maintaining and protecting the environment.

There is also high unemployment, especially among women over 50 years of age.

FLAG strategy

The FLAG strategy will focus primarily on creating and maintaining jobs, with particular regard to the aquaculture sector, and support for social enterprises based on the natural assets of the area. Another important priority will deal with environmental and climate issues, including protection of valuable species of water organisms and restoring lakes suffering from eutrophication, promoting environmental education, as well as mitigating climate change.

The FLAG will also try to strengthen the involvement of the local community and support activities which engage unemployed people around the culture and heritage of the area. An important target group will also be women over 50.
