Code:

Programming period:

Area

The FLAG area lies within the northern part of the province of Viterbo or ‘Tuscia’ and comprises Lake Bolsena. The lake is currently surrounded by numerous tourist establishments which, in large, cater for camping and agrotourism. There are many small hotels and bed and breakfasts on the lake’s shore.

Agricultural activities in the area are centred around organic farming which has given rise to agrotourism in the area. As has the local cuisine, which combines daily catches from the lake with produce from the land offering an authentic gastronomy which is unique to the area and well-known for being environmentally conscious.

The area’s longstanding artisanal fishing communities are at risk as their survival is increasingly linked and dependant on maintaining good ecological conditions in the lake. This is a key challenge to the region and the FLAG.
