Cooperation in action

Cooperating with local groups from other territories can allow FLAGs to find the complementarities or critical mass to increase the impacts of their actions. Below are a series of cooperation proposals and calls which might interest FLAGs.     An Italian FLAG and its partners access funds from EASME Sustainable Blue Economy call to support fishing communities in Tunisia develop their capacity to implement community-led local development (CLLD).

    Two neighbouring FLAGs cooperate to support a mobile phone app, MonPêcheur, to connect local fishers with consumers by providing them with an online platform for communicating, promoting, and selling their catches directly to the consumer.

    To support the economic revival of the local fishing sector following the COVID-19 crisis, the local fishing communities of the Hauts-de-France region have launched a weekly column in newspapers to promote their seafood products.

    Pillio FLAG is looking for partners from Cyprus, Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal and France to create a transnational organisation (AKTES). The purpose of the organisation is the development and implementation a transnational quality agreement (pact) joining tourism stakeholders under a common strategy. The strategy aims to guarantee a minimum quality for products and services; improving the tourist offer of those areas; mitigating seasonality; and encouraging better incomes and working conditions for local communities in coastal areas.

    A partnership of seven Greek FLAGs is looking for a transnational partner experienced in comprehensive management of protected areas including touristic activities to make them more attractive. This expertise would be collected in order to develop a management guide that will be used for the improvement of the area’s attractiveness and its guidelines and directions will be applied in the project’s publicity material (guides with alternative forms of tourism, signs, etc).

    In 2018, the West-Central Sardinia FLAG and the Sinis LEADER LAG, rescued the Sportello Europa Sinis project, a public and free service to improve the communication of European, National and Regional calls and bring EU initiatives closer to the wider population.
