Central Finland FLAG looking to utilize the cyprinid species

The Central Finland FLAG is looking for solutions to grade, scale and gut cyprinid fish, mainly roach. The area has large stocks of cyprinids and a rising market for them and, as such, the FLAG is looking for cost-effective handling facilities to increase their consumption. Indeed, in many Finnish lakes, the large cyprinid stocks are negatively affecting the water quality, so utilizing them will also bring environmental benefits. The objective of a cooperation project would be to utilize cyprinids for human consumption. Proposed actions include bench-marking or developing cost-effective processing machinery.
