    FARNET and FAO organised a workshop on the upcoming International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA) on the 15 September 2021, which was attended by more than 50 FLAGS. IYAFA 2022 is an opportunity to showcase the potential and diversity of small-scale artisanal fisheries and aquaculture.
  • At FARNET’s last event for FLAGs, LAGs and other stakeholders implementing CLLD, 16 FLAG-funded projects from across Europe that help make their area’s coastal communities more resilient were showcased.
  • The 13th and final FARNET transnational seminar for FLAGs took place on 16-18 November and focused on building economic, social, and environmental resilience in FLAG areas. The seminar highlighted tools, both old and new, for FLAGs to adapt and prepare their local development strategies in line with future challenges and opportunities linked to the Blue Economy.
  • The last FARNET meeting for Managing Authorities and National Networks working on the implementation of fisheries CLLD took place online and focused on: programming CLLD under the EMFAF 2021-2027 and linking it with broader EU policy initiatives; setting up the CLLD implementation system; supporting innovation; and facilitating cooperation and capacity building for FLAGs.
