FARNET Managing Authorities and National Networks met on the 15th and 16th of October in Brussels to work on the implementation of fisheries CLLD.

The Hastings FLAG is looking for experience, cases, solutions and actions taken to reduce marine litter in other parts of Europe and, in particular, in the Channel area and North Sea.

FLAGs are in a strong position to support and encourage more inclusive local resource management processes. This guide is divided into five thematic factsheets to help FLAGs contribute to the development of a bottom-up approach to local resource management and support the conservation of local resources based on their specific contexts.

The Saint-Brieuc LEADER LAG and FLAG want to foster economic and tourism development in their area by making local products a lever to create tools for tourism, attract new visitors, improve the area's profile and enable local actors to work together. The Cyclades FLAG, Greece, is looking for partners to build a practical working group on fostering socio-economic development around MPAs. The idea is to bring together Mediterranean FLAGs that are home to a Marine Protected Area to exchange and discuss ways to ensure MPAs are successful in protecting biodiversity while remaining economically viable. Participating FLAGs would take turns to organise and host a workshop and case study on the topic, starting in early 2019. Read on for further details.

Study visits and knowledge exchange are a practical way to find inspiration and advice when launching projects. To help those interested in supporting initiatives aimed at sustainable fishing, the Fisheries and Aquaculture Committee of Finistère (Brittany, France) is offering to share their experience of working on three particular projects.

The metropolitan center of Brest in France organized a “Cooperation Café” for both local LAGs and FLAGs last month to discover the opportunities linked with cooperation.

The European Network for Rural Development (ENRD) has developed a new guide for organising and prioritising transnational cooperation ideas. The prioritisation of project ideas can be instrumental in maintaining the strategic role of transnational cooperation within a FLAG strategy.

The 2018 Nordic-Baltic Rural and Maritime Award winners were recently announced at the Swedish Rural Parliament Annual Meeting in May. One of the three winners was The Northern Fisheries Trail, a cooperation project among nine Polish FLAGs.
