Oyster farming cooperation between the Marennes Oléron Basin and the Siné-Saloum Delta in Senegal

Winner of the "France is committed to the South" initiative (la France s’engage au Sud), CRAMS is conducting research with the support of the Senegalese authorities, carrying out experiments in open sea oyster farming and refining in Senegal's only marine protected area.

The cooperation project between the Marennes Oléron FLAG and the Siné-Saloum Delta aims at the sustainable development of oyster farming, an emerging economic sector in the Siné- Saloum Delta.

The project is based on two main actions:

  1. Strengthening the cooperation and action capacities of local actors through technical delegation visits
  2. Developing academic exchanges of young people in oyster farming education between the two regions

The project meets the expectations in terms of mobilization of local actors, particularly the professional sectors, on themes of exchanges between a growing basin (Marennes Oléron) and an emerging zone with a strong stake in terms of local economic opportunity (the Siné-Saloum Delta).

More detailed information is available in the project fiche (FR).
